A moderator is a regular Distribly member, only with a few extra responsibilities:

  • Represent Distribly in the community
  • Participate in the moderator's forum
  • Communicate with Distribly and help us make things better
  • Review content reported by Distribly's members
  • Remove content which is inappropriate or not allowed
  • Report and assist in dealing with members who are breaking the rules
  • Help decide who can become a moderator.

As we state in our Terms of Use, we have built a friendly community on Distribly. New members don't always know the rules, mistakes can happen, and let's face it, there are some people who just like to cause trouble. Moderators help us maintain the community by helping those who need help and removing things that shouldn't be there.

How do you become a moderator?

Anyone can be a moderator. We keep an eye on the forums and identify the members who would make good moderators. These members are sent a notification offering them moderator status. You can choose to accept or decline, it's up to you. If you think you would like to be a moderator on Distribly, don't ask us, let your actions speak for you:

  • Help people out
  • Create a great profile
  • Give feedback where possible.

There are two main roles for a moderator:

  • Checking content that has been reported by Distribly members
  • Managing the forums; helping out members, moderating arguments and dealing with troublemakers.
